VeriSign Sued Over Fake Domain Name Swap
Optima Technology, a storage specialist, has filed suit against Network Solutions claiming it unlawfully switched ownership of their domain name. Ownership was diverted to a former employee of Optima, allowing him to collect all of Optima's internet revenue. The domain name has been legally returned to the rightful owner, however they are still suing the registrar for over 3 million dollars in damages. Read more.

VeriSign's Redirect Page Leaking Data
VeriSign's Site Finder service has been accused of revealing personal information through web forms that are submitted on the internet. The information is being transpired through the site finder service to a marketing analysis firm called Omniture. There have been legal concerns with VeriSign violating their privacy policy and the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA). Read more.

ICANN UPDATE
Address Registries Preparing for ICANN Collapse?
The Regional Internet Address Registries (RIRs) have provided ICANN with a written proposal which indicated their intent to restructure the authority over coordinating the address spaceassignments. The draft disclosed that a new "Number Resource Organization" would be established, which would replace the existing Address Supporting Organization (ASO) and would be obligated to contract with all of the RIRs. ICANN and the Almost Invisible New TLD Evaluation Process
There is skepticism following the objectivity of the ruling over namespace. ICANN has clearly stated that there would be new Top-Level Domains (TLDs) and specific new registries that would be in charge of governing their decisions. ICANN appears to be handling the controversial issues, pertaining to the .info and .biz, in-house with a small group of people who are under short-term contracts. There has not been anything published on their website stating the process or procedures that have taken place to resolve these issues. It has become evident that this is a clear violation of the New TLD Evaluation Process Planning Task Force (NTEPPTF) that was derived on November of 2000. Read more
