How much will it cost me to transfer to Buy Domains?
The transfer itself is free as long as you purchase one additional year of service beyond your current expiration date. Buy Domains charges $16 per domain for adding one full year to your existing expiration date, even if it�s months or years away. Plus, all renewals come with all the FREE value-added services that Buy Domains offers with registrations. So when you transfer your domain to Buy Domains, one extra year will be added to your current expiration date for only $16. There are also special bulk rates.
What is the step-by-step process for transferring my domain?

Complete the simple online form. BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR CORRECT EMAIL ADDRESS (the email address that matches the administrative email for your domain). |

You will receive 2 emails confirming the request & notifying you of your transfer request. |

After you approve the request via email, the current registrar is given a 5-day window to reject your request for cause.
The current registrar has the ability to reject a domain name transfer request in the following situations:
- There is a dispute over the domain name
- There is a pending bankruptcy of the domain name holder
- There is a dispute over the identity of the domain name holder
- The transfer request was initiated within the first 60 days of the original registration date.
If you feel your current registrar is unfairly withholding your domain, please contact [email protected].

Unless the current registrar rejects the request, the domain will be transferred and we will add 1 year to the current expiration date. How can I check the status of my transfer?
If you have not received an email verifying a successful transfer within 5 business days, you should CHECK YOUR CONTROL PANEL for the status or you may send an email to [email protected].

As long the domain is over 60 days old from it�s initial registration, it can be transferred to Buy Domains from any registrar.

What is the difference between transferring registrar and transferring ownership?
When you transfer your domain registrar, you are allowing another registrar to manage your domain. Customer service, support, services, and prices usually change but the domain owner stays the same. Transfers must be completed by notifying the registrar and completing a simple form. Conversely, when you transfer ownership of a domain (change-of-registrant) 2 original signatures are required and must be sent to us, using the simple Change-of-Registrant form. In this case you are assigning your domain to a new owner if you have sold it or made other arrangements.
How long will it take for my domain name transfer to take effect?
The process of completing a transfer usually takes 5 business days. After you verify that you wish to have your domain transferred, the new registrar will contact the old registrar and make the necessary transaction.
Will transferring my domain name registration affect my hosting?
No. Although Buy Domains offers robust hosting services, your hosting provider can remain the same as it is during and after the transfer process and your existing hosting service will not be adversely affected by transferring your domain.
