Wireless Lan Association ANNOUNCES ADDITION OF TWO NEW MEMBERS: Andrew Corp. and Intermec Further Strengthen Wireless Lan Association (WLANA)
Additions Indicative of Health and Growth of Wireless LAN Market
PALO ALTO, CA, (September 9, 1996) The Wireless LAN Association (WLANA) today announced that it has approved Andrew Corporation and Intermec Corporation as new members, bringing the total number of alliance members to fifteen.
WLANA was formed earlier this year by 13 worldwide suppliers of wireless LAN products and technology in response to dramatic market growth and need for vendor independent information. The alliance is dedicated to promoting increased awareness and knowledge of wireless LANs among potential customers, independent software vendors and systems integrators.
"We are very pleased to announce the addition of Andrew Corp. and Intermec to WLANA," said WLANA President Jeff Abramowitz. "Their presence will further enhance our ability to educate users about wireless LAN technologies and applications," he added.
"Since the formation of WLANA, the response from end-users and members of the wireless LAN industry has been tremendous, with an average of 1,000 inquiries received per month from end-users, systems integrators, VARs and resellers," said Greg DiCillo, WLANA Vice President.
"This response is indicative of the demand for clear, concise and vendor neutral information about the application of wireless LAN technology and highlights the need for industry cooperation," Sullivan said. "It is also a validation of the growth and maturity of the wireless LAN market," he added.
"Intermec has a long history of leadership in wireless technology," said Intermec President Michael Ohanian. "Our membership in WLANA will allow us to help educate and guide end-users during a period of rapid market growth and technological change," he added.
