Monster Parent Pays $800K for Jobs.com Domain Name
Companies are learning the value of a good dot-com and the marketing advantages of having multiple domains to attract more traffic and gain a competitive advantage. Recently, the Parent Company of Monster.com paid $800,000 for the rights to acquire the Jobs.com domain name and trademark from a competitor. The domain name, Jobs.com, is an excellent generic name that will (as described by Monster CEO Jim Treacy) provide a "gateway" to all of the company's interactive properties.

Neulevel Starts .BIZ Resolution Process; .US Domains Are Here
Companies that failed to win their chosen .BIZ domain have 30 days to prove a legal claim over the name, but only if they pre-registered an interest last year via Buy Domains with Neulevel, the company that manages top-level domain. Following claims in the US that the allocation of .BIZ domains was an "illegal lottery", the 39,000 .BIZ domains that received multiple applications have now been allocated using a round robin system. Around 65,000 .BIZ domains have now gone live since it was opened up in November, but half of the initial 2.4 million applications were for just 39,000.

ICANN UPDATE
ICANN Wins Confidence Of RIRs & Draft RIR-ICANN Agreement
The Internet Corp for Assigned Names and Numbers is close to forming binding relationships with the three Regional Internet Registries that are responsible for allocating IP addresses to internet service providers. The managements of ICANN and the Regional Internet Registries (APNIC, ARIN, and RIPE NCC) have agreed on a draft agreement on matters of roles, responsibilities, and procedures relating to Internet Protocol (IP) address management and global IP address management policies. This agreement would further formalize the existing working relationship between the RIRs and ICANN, which is set forth in the Memorandum of Understanding for the ICANN Address Supporting Organization (ASO MoU).
